Mustang Sakya Buddhist Association
The Mustang Sakya Buddhist Association is an important organisation established in Kathmandu for the purpose of revival and restoration; and continuation of the precious Dharma and valued cultural heritage of Mustang. Mustang region is located in a northern part of Nepal surrounded by the Himalayas.
As of now there are dozens of small and large monasteries in Mustang — with some having history of many centuries — primarily of Sakya tradition. The land has been visited by many great masters of Sakya in the past such as Ngorchen Kunga Sangpo, Panchen Shakya Chokden. And in recent years, the late Chogye Mot-len Rinpoche spent many years here turning the wheel of the dharma by bestowing precious Lamdre etc. As cultural and spiritual values were reclining due to modernity and lesser familiarity, It was also during the time of His Eminence that saw many restoring projects fulfilled. His effort saw many success as well as laid a path for future generations to continue the duty of upholding and bringing glory to this wonderful and Keeping in mind the dire necessity of such achievements, the Mustang Sakya BuddhistAssociation was formed through consensus among all the stakeholders of Sakya Monasteries in Mustang. The Association strives to preserve and restore the monasteries and help the denizens with the intention of altruism and propagate the teachings to its highest level. In 2007, all the concerned members Khenpos, lamas, Tulkus and venerables, led by His Eminence Thartse Khen Rnpoche, joined hands to create a platform with the intention to actualise all those noble wishes and projects of preserving the sacred cultural and spiritual heritage. Finally, in 2007, According to the government act and policies, Mustang Sakya Buddhist Association was formed and registered legally in Nepal.

His Eminence Thartse Khenrinpoche, spiritual heads of Mustang along with faithful devotees received His Holiness and his entourage with great pomp today at Jomsom. His Holiness is visiting Mustang at the invitation extended by the 2nd Executive Committee of Mustang Sakya Buddhist Association with collaboration with all Sakya Monasteries in Mustang. His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin and Their Eminences with Dagmo la were welcomed in traditional way by devotees of Khimkhar Village. There, His Holiness and Their Eminences with Sanghas performed a brief consecration of the ongoing building of the community Stupa.
