The Mustang Sakya Buddhist Association is an important organization newly established in Kathmandu for revival and restoration; and to continue the otherwise degenerated Dharma and the valued culture heritage of Mustang.
Mustang region is situated at the north of Nepal which from many centuries holds record of being a vital place for the positive development of Buddha Dharma.
As of now, there are dozens of small and large monasteries in Mustang region. The monasteries are primarily in Sakya adherence and the sangha community that embarks spiritual path in those monasteries is not but practitioners who are leading lives of celibacy.
Over the time, practice in relation to Vinaya, Trio Fundamental Practice of monastic discipline is somewhat in brink of extinction. And the sudden change in the political scenario in Tibet brought His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, a treasure holding ocean like pith-instruction, to Mustang.
There, His Eminence bestowed empowerments and oral transmission on Sutra and Tantra including the Trio Fundamental Practice of monastic discipline.
His Eminence’s presence had helped restore the otherwise declined-Dharma giving rise to the spiritual activities, further blooming to keep the noble-principle of yester-year alive in Mustang.
As such, the status of the spiritual activities in most monasteries has reached at previous stage by regaining their dignitary and now once again they are at the prime-state of thriving.
Nevertheless, in absence of an umbrella-organization to supervise the progress, some monasteries are in destitute condition, in view points of both Dharma practice and the material-infrastructure. Thus, an association of this nature has become a need of time. More>>>
